Coverture
A woman in a black suit stands in the formal garden at Tjolöholm, south of Gothenburg, veiled in a length of household lace. Not a bridal veil. The kind of cloth that covers a table. In most of the frames she has no face.
The garden was laid out by a widow. James Fredrik Dickson died the year the house began. Blanche finished it alone and lived in it for two years before she died.
None of that was in mind at the time. It was in the ground anyway.
